We all know of the toning benefits that lifting weights at a gym can do for your body, but have your heard of the amazing benefits of Hula Hooping? Guest Blogger and Gold Coast Professional hooping teacher Suki explains why she practices regular hooping.
1. Works Muscles:
Spinning a hula hoop can become a full body workout. Depending on the type of routine practiced you can work out your arms, glutes, thighs, back, waist (great for working off love handles) and abs. A weighted hoop can even provide enough resistance for a strengthening regimen.
2. Burns Fat:
It has been proven to burn over 400 calories per hour, 600 calories per hour especially when other parts of your body, such as your arms and legs, are engaged.
3. Increased Aerobic Capacity:
Get fit listening to your favorite tune in the park or home! You will work up a sweat as spinning a hoop for 45 minutes definitely gets your heart pumping, and builds endurance.
4. Heightened motor skills and hand-eye coordination
There are many hooping moves that require good body co-ordination. Throws, isolations and double hooping will get your mind working as much as your body. It improves your flexibility!
5. Mood Enhancer
If ‘laughter is your best medicine’ then it’s hard to beat hooping in the park with music. Laugh away your worries and stress and book a 45 minutes group season with your friends . I can come to any park or home on the Gold Coast. Guaranteed to make you feel young again!
6. Travel and meet new friends
The Hooping community is International so when you attend classes or hooping events you’ll be making contact with other friendly fellow hoopers from different counties. You just never know if you get the travelling bug you just need your own ‘travel hoop’, and you could be attend hooping retreats and festivals in your favorite part of the world!
7. Lighting up the Night
To make your evening more alive I also have LED (Check out Annette’s vlog on the Keep Life Simple home page) for the night time dancers. Or for the dare devils out there, you could learn how to dance with fire hoops!
8. Confidence building
As you hoop away, getting new moves and dancing routines – your confidence and body image is bound to improve.
9. Great for any age.
Hooping is fun and super interactive, and can be practiced at home or in a park. Get your gal pals together, bring the kids ( good school holiday activity) or have fun with the whole family and book a lesson, I’m only a phone call way.
So if you’re looking for a rejuvenating workout or just to spice up your exercise routine, I would recommend Hula Hooping as a ‘must try’ fun activity.
