The other day I was having a conversation with my mother, who was upset that in the past two years she hadn’t felt as good as she used too, and that she’d put on weight. I looked at her and said, “Mum you have become a pond, your body is not a river any more” and I explained the differences to her.
Pond Body Type:
A pond body is the type that doesn’t exercise, and therefore, their body has become clogged. I explained that she was similar to a stagnant pond that had gone putrid, and that with no flowing clean water, it would eventually not sustain any life. “I am I going to die?” she said. I reassured her that she wouldn’t, but she needed to consider regular exercise again. I wasn’t brave enough to say that she was also beginning to look like a big, round, pond.
Our bodies need movement to rid themselves of the many forms of toxins produced by today’s chemical filled world. The human body tells its owner that something is wrong, usually in the form of illness, and that’s when we visit a doctor for help. The doctor usually recommends or prescribes pharmaceuticals, known as medicine, depending on the severity of the illness. Modern medicine can be a lifesaver, however for the pond type body, taking pharmaceuticals will only be a short-term solution, a band–aid cure. Just like a swimming pool will go green when you turn the filter off, you too will get sick again if you continue a life without exercise.
Don’t kid yourself; toxins do build up over time, and even faster in a pond body type. Disease will become part of your daily existence, your quality of life will be threatened, and in severe cases, it can also shorten your life. In most cases, this negative ageing life path can be avoided with regular exercise.
River Body Type:
When you move and exercise regularly, your body works similarly to that of a flowing river. It’s constantly replenishing and rejuvenating itself with nutrients, and all the goodness that comes from fresh, moving water. Regular exercise helps to clean out and flush away toxins, it also helps to repair and rejuvenate your body. A healthy, moving body is a true miracle worker; it’s perfectly built to rid itself of foreign chemicals. For example, perhaps you might have succumbed to eating a donut. A person who exercises will rid themselves of those additives and fats faster than someone who doesn’t, it’s that simple. Yet, there are millions of people that haven’t figured out that you must exercise to have a healthy functioning body, and a great quality of life that is disease free.
If you want to feel good and maintain a healthy weight, you must think about taking control of your ageing path now, and become a healthy river, rather than an unhealthy, still pond. Ask yourself, Why do I constantly feel ill, why don’t I feel good anymore? Why have I put on weight? Could it be lack of movement in your life? I am guessing for most people, it is.
A pond is polluted and pungent and struggles to survive, whereas a river is fresh, clean and enjoys a long life. What would you rather be?
I am delighted to say that mum rang me the next day saying “this pond is now walking and wants to be a river again.”
