I didn’t ask for these chemicals to be placed on or in my food, and many of them are doing my body more harm than good. I don’t want to consume chemicals, but these days they are everywhere. We breathe them in daily from the environment; the soil used to grow produce is saturated with pesticides. With all the pollution around, I don’t believe in 100% organic food. Today, it would be more accurate to define the word organic as ‘eating fewer chemicals’. So, as a consumer of organic foods, I am choosing to eat fewer chemicals.
From a nutritional aspect, is organic ‘better’ for you?
Researchers are still battling over the nutritional value of organic vs. non-organic foods. Some say that there is very little difference between the two; to be truthful, this doesn’t bother me. My biggest concern and the reason I eat organic foods is that I prefer to avoid the chemicals added into and on top of the food I eat. Some of these chemicals are so bad that they are banned from use in different countries, yet they are used on produce in Australia. It’s madness how companies are permitted to play with our health and ultimately, our lives, and get away with it.
I have a girlfriend who began eating organic foods and to her amazement her long- term dermatitis went away after years of trying to cure it previously. By also giving her son organic meals, she found that it made him less hyperactive, and this made their lives less stressful and her family happier.
I also eat organic meats and if there isn’t an organic option available, I purchase the free range variety. More reading What is the difference between free range, bred free ranges, organic?
The chemicals I speak of include those that we place on our bodies as well. Topical chemicals are equally as harmful as the ones we ingest because ultimately, those chemicals get absorbed into the body via the skin. It is for that reason that I now use quite frankly natural and world organic skin care , as there no nasties in the products and they smell terrific!
I enjoy the fact that I am giving my body a better chance to function at its best, and that begins by not actively ingesting or absorbing harmful chemicals.
As with previous blogs, I write this to ask readers to become more mindful of the chemicals around them, and to always read food labels when buying packaged goods.
By feeding my body organic foods, it repays me with great health and great skin. I also think organic food tastes better, but that’s for you to find out if you choose to eat organic foods. Chemicals in most of our food today can equate to bad health. Fewer chemicals in food, such as eating organic equate to better health.
I am a believer due to personal experience. I think organic foods are ‘better’? What do you think?
