It can be as easy as switching to natural, or organic skincare products.
A few years ago, I began to remove toxins from my diet, eating locally grown organic food, and became more aware of the cleaning toxins I was using in my house. The day also came when I became aware of the chemicals I was using on my skin. The skin is the body’s largest organ; it provides a direct filter to our bloodstream and internal organs. Chemicals I was putting onto my skin were also entering my body through absorption.
Like so many others, I trusted the popular, reputable, cosmetic and skincare companies for all my skincare needs. Until one day, I decided to read the back of a box, the list of ingredients that were in my favourite skin cream. What I found was unpronounceable words and what did all those numbers mean? I wasn’t going to risk my health by placing chemical ingredients, which companies claimed to be safe, on my skin. It seems that every year a ‘proven safe chemical’ is deemed unsafe.
I’m an animal lover, the owner of four cheeky cockatiels, that I consider my feathered kids. So the unnecessary cruelty to animals in laboratories of these popular cosmetic giants outrages me. If those places had glass walls, and we could see what was happening to innocent little creatures, most of us wouldn’t use any of their products.
Armed with the new knowledge that I acquired, I made the decision to throw away my face, hair, and body products, and start again. Today, I use organic skincare products. Organic skin care is caring for your skin in a natural and chemical-free way. It advocates enabling the skin to take care of itself without any assistance from synthetic materials or chemicals.
This year I have chosen to use Quite Frankly Natural, it has become my favorite product for a number of reasons. It’s organic, vegan and not tested on animals, and it’s made locally on the Sunshine Coast. There are no claims of any “miracle, wrinkle removing ingredients”, only the promise that you are feeding your skin the goodness that comes from raw, organic ingredients. I feel that now my body is saying, “thank you” every time I apply anything from the Quite Frankly Natural range, onto my face or body.
I’d love to hear from you and appreciate your opinion so please leave a comment on any post that resonates with you.
