How did you get into the fitness industry
My health and fitness career was sparked by Jane Fonda aerobic work-outs, and competitive body building in the late eighties. I was also one of the first of my generation of personal fitness trainers to emerge in the 90’s; we believed in the ‘no pain, no gain way of training, and luckily for clients, times have changed. These days I prefer to encourage clients to workout with my favourite catch phrase “ If you don’t use it, you will lose it.”
Are you a qualified personal fitness trainer?
Yes I am, and I am always finding the best ways that my mature age clients can inprove their health, fitness and well-being as they age!

Describe your main client group today.
Today my personal training focuses on women’s mature age health, fitness and wellbeing. Clients are usually over the age of thirty-five. This is around the time where their bodies can start to experience the negative effects of hormonal loss .The good news is that hormone balance can be corrected, and with healthy hormones levels restored my clients have been getting great improvements with weight loss, tone and energy levels. Learning how to keep your hormones healthy and balanced again, can be a positively life changing experience.
Do you want to know more?
What are the main issues or problems that your client’s need your help with?
Middle age spread, weight loss, toning, loose skin, wrinkles, tuck shop arms, fitness, hormone balance and improving quality their of life.
How do you manage clients who are disillusioned about their progress.
I check to see if they have been consistent with their individual health, fitness and well-being plan.
Consistency is the key to ageing feeling and looking your personal best. We also might talk about food choices ,hidden sugars in diets is a huge culprit when it comes to weight loss.
What are your tips for keeping clients engaged?
I like to come up with simple ‘one liners’ like the ones below:
‘If nothing else gets you, middle age spread will, unless you balance your hormones and exercise”
“If you don’t move it, you will loose it”.
” Balance your hormones and age feeling your best”
“If you weight train, you wont have a wiggly jiggly body as you age.”
“If I can have a fit, trim, and toned body with my fat european genes so can you”
Describe an ideal week of exercise (for yourself)
Three days a week mixing weights, walking ( or a 20 min HIIT session) yoga or stretching for an hour . Bliss.
How do you stick to your exercise plan?
I just look in the mirror and really like what I see, and that keeps me very motivated.
