Ladies, if fad diets worked why are we getting fatter as we age? Why it is that women of Australia (and men) are getting fatter not thinner, yet there are all these diet products advertised for sale everywhere? Today we have the low calorie diet, low fat diet, low carb diet, high protein diet, diet pills, diet powders, liquid diet, detox diet, cleansing diet, celebrity diets, diet books, diet weight loss centers etc. We should be getting thinner right? Wrong, we getting fatter because these diets don’t work?
As female fitness professional for many years, I seen many a fad diet come and go, in my earlier years I’ve even tried a few. The majority of women who I personally train are victims of fad diets and all have experienced similar unsuccessful results. I have also worked at one of the most popular weight loss centers in Australia, and ethically had to leave as I didn’t see any long term results there either. Experience has taught me that as long as a diet is popular, sells, and makes huge profits the diet industry generally doesn’t care if you lose weight or put it back on. They love the yo- yo dieter it means more profits to them long term.
I can confidently say that most weight loss diets on the market are all about money and advise you that when it comes to any diet advertisements that say “lose weight easy or Lose weight fast” don’t buy it and save your money. They might have short term results, however in the long term they will cause havoc with your metabolism by slowing it down. They slow down your metabolism, and eat valuable muscle tissue, which means you usually put on more weight that is wiggly & jiggly as you have less toning muscle after you stop the diet. When it comes to achieving long term results, many of the fad diets are not sustainable, well balanced and nutritional healthy. “The only thing that loses weight when it comes to fad diets is your wallet. So stop searching for that quick fix solution to weight loss, because there is no quick fix way of losing weight.”
My advice if you are seeking to lose weight is, to get up and move your body. Consider hiring a personal trainer if only for a month and learn correct workout techniques so that you can maintain your weight and have fit body for life. I also suggest that you embrace a Keep Life Simple lifestyle, it’s the healthy way for a women lose fat, gain muscle and maintain your new weight.
