When I was younger I heard about menopause it was described to me by my mother, “as the worst part of a woman’s life, nothing for you to worry about until you reach your fifties” Today experience has taught me of the importance of acting earlier than later.
Let me explain to you a little about peri menopause and menopause.
Women start peri-menopause at different ages, and today, because of all the chemicals in the environment, the food we eat, and the topical products we use on our skin, it can start as early as in your thirties.
Peri-menopause is the interval in which a woman’s body makes a natural shift from regular cycles of ovulation and menstruation toward permanent infertility, or menopause.
Peri – menopause ends and menopause begins when a woman has gone 12 months without having her period.
You should actually prepare for peri-menopause and menopause in your mid to late thirties. But don’t worry if you haven’t, it doesn’t matter at what age you learn to balance your hormones. If you have a good understanding whether you are in peri-menopause or menopause, you can ‘nip in the bud’ many if not all the negative problems associated with them , so they don’t happen.
There can be many symptoms of peri-menopause and menopause here a few of the common ones:
- Changes in your menstrual cycle, longer or shorter periods, heavier or lighter periods, missed periods and stopped Period
- Breast tenderness
- Hot Flashes (sudden rush of heat from your chest to your head)
- Night sweats (hot flashes that happen while you sleep)
- Vaginal dryness
- Low libido
- Trouble sleeping
- Mood changes (mood swings, depression, irritability)
- Urinary urgency (pressing need to urinate more frequently)
- Increased body fat, particularly around the waist
- Weight Gain
- and more as every women is unique and individual
Are you getting some or perhaps all of these symptoms now? It’s not living a good quality life is it? What about how you might be affecting those close to you?
The bad news is your symptoms will worsen as you age if left untreated. The slow drain of your hormones from your body begins in peri-menopause (35-53) and continues after menopause (53+) . Every hormone is critical, and having just one that is low or missing will throw off your entire system. This is what causes many of those nasty peri-menopause and menopause symptoms.
Menopause is a time where most women think that the symptoms will just go away, and in some cases they might for a short time. However as your hormone loss increases your symptoms will return. Its a slow hormonal drain until you die.
The good news is that you don’t have to suffer from any of the above symptoms, and it begins with you learning how to replace and balance your declining hormones. Simple!
I’d love to hear from you so feel free to leave a comment on the post.
